BRAND ANALYSIS - KNOWING OUR CLIENT

The first step we had to follow was to find a cosmetic brand and analyse it. My choice was to produce a work for Midnight cosmetics, a brand created by Nina Urgell (@ninauc) .

Being the face of the brand, she reflects the values and impression the brand wants to give, which are :

efficiency / quality / innovation / sustainability / quality / clean / nature / diversity.

We also created moodboards to show what the brand evokes to us.

POS - CREATING A POINT OF SALE

Before creating the entire shop, we had to create a small point of sale that would be used there.

After seeing some pictures of Nina’s house on her socials, I quickly decided to take inspiration from the roughness and brutalism of her style, including some elements that would reflect a house such as pipes and furniture.

The materials used are corten steel and aluminium pipes. Adding a cut in the corten steel, I was able to create a playful shadow representing the logo of the brand.

SHOP DESIGN

For the actual shop, I wanted the client to feel as they are entering Nina’s house for grabbing a coffee. I felt like this closeness would interest the targets.

I kept my idea of playing with tubes and industrial materials, creating this big pipes from the floor to the roof to walls, where it would be possible to hang the clothes.

The counter would also be shaped with these pipes, with a flat surface of corten steel.

The dressing rooms would be behind some big doors to give privacy, and the ambience would be a bit darker.

There would be 2 waiting areas, in the main shop and the dressing rooms, for people to feel comfortable and at home.

There would also be fake windows, giving out this old factory / loft effect, and where light can be manipulated to create this night ambiance, reflecting the image of the brand’s tittle, midnight cosmetics.

SCENT AND SOUND

The atmosphere of the shop is fixed with details that will make the shopping experience better and more interesting. For this, I decided to select a perfume and create a playlist for the shop.

The scent chosen is “Fleur d’oranger 27” by Le Labo brand, which is a mix of floral and citrus, that smells like sun and freshness, inspiring the same clean as the brand.

As for the playlist, I created one with songs that are calming and that I play when I’m at home. Give it a try :)
